Arrow' boss: 'I'm not sure you'll see Superman or Batman'

The producers of Arrow have confirmed that the show is unlikely to feature guest stints from major DC heroes.

Back in August, show exec Marc Guggenheim claimed that it would be "absolutely awesome" to feature characters like Batman in the new CW series.

However, fellow producer Andrew Kreisberg told The Hollywood Reporter: "I'm not entirely sure you'll be seeing characters like Superman, Batman, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman because they're much more fantastical and right now we're focusing on Oliver Queen as being the only hero."

He added that the series is more likely to focus on DC's "lesser-known characters" in future episodes.

"We're looking forward to bringing on other DC Comics characters and characters that people have never really seen before," he explained. "That's what's been fun for us; Superman will always get his due [on TV and film]."

Kelly Hu - who plays comic book supervillain China White on Arrow - recently claimed that the series is "a bit grittier than one would expect".

Arrow airs on Wednesday nights at 8/7c on The CW and will debut on Sky1 in the UK on October 22.
