It was the worst kept secret in Buckingham Palace and now the cat is out of the bag. Kate Middleton—after countless stories speculating and even confirming through sources that she had a baby on board—has finally announced that she is with child.
A statement from the palace confirms the happy news:
"Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby.”
As expected, the royal clan are mega-hyped that Kate is fulfilling her number one job as “princess”: growing the family and creating an air to the throne.
"The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry and members of both families are delighted with the news,” the statement continues.
The confirmation raises SO many questions:
Boy or girl? —aka future King or Queen? Will they name it (her) Diana? How far along is she (3 months, presumably)?
But—more importantly—it confirms what we’ve been guessing at for what feels like an eternity now…
The statement continues, laying out Kate’s first steps moving forward…
“The Duchess was admitted this afternoon to King Edward VII Hospital in Central London with Hyperemesis Gravidarum [morning sickness]. As the pregnancy is in its very early stages, Her Royal Highness is expected to stay in hospital for several days and will require a period of rest thereafter.”
So get ready, kids…There’s going to be a royal birth!
