Oscar Watch: Rust & Bone Wins Best Film at BFI Fest
As we head into the thick of awards season, every little accolade and honor can be the thing that pushes a film into Oscar contention, which is why Rust and Bone is a movie to keep your eye on. The film, which stars Oscar-winner Marion Cotillard as a woman who suffers a tragic accident and rebuilds her life and soul with the help of a a street-fighting single father, beat out 12 other heavily lauded pictures for the British Film Institute's top prize at the BFI Film Fest in London.
Of French filmmaker Jacques Audiard's work, BFI jury president David Hare said, "Audiard has a unique handwriting, made up of music, montage, writing, photography, sound, visual design and acting. He is one of only a very small handful of filmmakers in the world who has mastered, and can integrate, every element of the process to one purpose: making, in Rust and Bone, a film full of heart, violence and love."
