The Punjabi Cultural Heritage Board had raised objections to the
dialogue and some scenes, and producer-actor Ajay Devgn has modified the
film according to the board’s requirements. Has this compromised the
film?
“The creativity of the film has not been affected in any way. Every film is rectified, sometimes it’s made even better,” says Devgn. “The objectionable portions were very small. The writer and director of the film is Punjabi and we took care of everything. Even the guy who tied my turban was from Punjab, so we needed to change very little.”
On the film in general, Devgn continues, “SOS is a fun-loving film made for the family audience and we didn’t want to hurt anyone. Rest assured you will not be bored while watching it. Every scene includes punchlines and jokes, which will entertain you.”
Punjabi films usually do exceptionally well at the box office “because people love watching films about the Punjabi culture and SOS will bring out the best in it. The film is a mix of action, comedy, romance and emotion. Also, since it is the festive season, the timing is perfect,” reveals Devgn.
Asked why people should opt to watch SOS rather than any other film during Diwali, he says, “Don’t choose, watch both films. Diwali is a time of celebration so you can watch two different genres of films. I want every film to work, it’s good for our industry.”
