2012 Ultimate Movie Poll Results: Sparkling vampires & sure-eyed archers rule

Whether or not “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2” is your favorite movie of 2012, you at least have to admit the film has some of the most passionate fans around. On the strength of the impressive mobilization of Twihards everywhere, the epic conclusion to the billion dollar franchise is officially your Favorite Film in our 2012 Ultimate Movie Poll, taking 31% of the nearly 53,000 votes cast.
Twihards may be ecstatic with the results, but the going wasn’t always so sparkling. “The Hunger Games” looked to be the early front-runner, after some heady fan sites rallied their troops. And just two days before the polls closed, “Marvel’s The Avengers” lovers assembled enough strength to pull into a virtual tie with “BD2”.

Summit Entertainment'sAlas, in the end, the “Twilight” faithful proved to be too much, and “Breaking Dawn – Part 2” is, and always will be, the Favorite Film of 2012. Add to that wins for Kristen Stewart as Favorite Star of the year, as well as Bella and Edward for Favorite Onscreen Couple, and Twihards have got plenty to be proud of.
So congratulations. Feel free to offer your acceptance speeches in the comments below.
The beauty of a 15 question poll is that there are plenty of winners! There’s certainly no need for “THG” fans to hang their heads. The first installment of the newest bankable franchise walked away with four big wins, including Favorite Girl Power Film, Best Hair for Elizabeth Banks, Biggest Breakout Star for Josh Hutcherson, and Best Archer for Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence).

Of course, that Best Archer victory stings a bit for avid “Avengers” fans, because Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) was oh-so-close to hitting the bull’s-eye on that one. Fortunately, Marvel maniacs don’t have to go double-hating on “THG”, as the Hulk was able to eke out a victory over Katniss for Biggest Badass. (Though there were plenty of comments wondering how that race was even close.) And while “Avengers” fans might also be a bit cranky about Loki’s poor showing as the Most Evil Villain, at least they can take solace in the fact that title went to a fellow comic book baddie, Bane (Tom Hardy) from “The Dark Knight Rises”.
Another winner was “Ted,” which easily claimed the award for Favorite Comedy, though you wouldn’t know it from writer/director/star Seth MacFarlane’sunappreciative tweet. However, just knowing we’re the butt of one of Seth MacFarlane’s jokes makes us feel like we’ve done something right!
