Yahoo! Movies recently sat down with "Twilight" heartthrobs Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, who revealed their thoughts about the ongoing public debate between their characters. And while everyone knew the studio got a lot of mileage out of the rivalry, and some are still questioning its authenticity, Pattinson himself, confirmed it was a rivalry invented purely by business strategists.
"That was not from the fans either. That was kind of, uh, marketing," Pattinson slyly revealed during our recent interview. "We're both on the same team," he joked.

When it comes to discussing the fan war among "Twilight"'s leading men, Lautner said it would be "weird" if he and Pattinson acknowledged it to each other off the clock. "Honestly we just don't talk about it at all," he said.
During our interview, Lautner also talked about the evolution of Edward and Jacob's relationship in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2." As fans well know, Jacob and Edward have a contentious history throughout most of the series. But now that they have something very dear to them they need to protect -- other than Bella (Kristen Stewart) -- the two hunks of "Twilight" are, dare we say, friends!
They unite to protect Edward and Bella's half-vampire daughter Renesmee (Mackenzie Foy) -- who Jacob has "imprinted," inextricably tying himself to her.  "It was quite the change. I definitely had to do a mind shift," said Lautner of his character's new-found friendship with Edward (Pattinson). Lautner said he really enjoyed playing Jacob this time around largely because "he's not always in the corner pouting."
Pattinson also opened up about what it's like to be the focus of fan frenzy. Lautner and Pattinson are undoubtedly met by throngs of screaming fans at public events, including premieres. But now that he's on the fifth "Twilight" film and has countless appearances under his belt, Pattinson says he is now more familiar with the attention. "I always think something's going to go terribly wrong... And it's always kind of great," he says of stepping out for premieres.
